Prior to founding Ferrario & Associates in 1997, Joe Ferrario was President of Rofin-Sinar US until its successful public offering. Under his leadership, Rofin-Sinar doubled revenues in a three-year period. His prior senior management experiences include product development, technical management, and sales, service, and marketing management with manufacturers of instrumentation and capital equipment. Subsequently, he has led turn-arounds as the COO of small, closely held manufacturers. In recent years, he has taken his turn-around and crisis management experiences and projected them back in the form of preventive strategies for new and growing businesses.

He specializes in the operation of medium to high technology manufacturers. His work has included analysis, design, and development of operations and organization structures to support strategic plans that he has developed. Assignments have also included product development, technology transfer, sales force and representative network development, and customer service. He has been particularly effective in adding value and producing income in manufacturing companies apart from the traditional operations of fabrication and assembly. He has successfully brought order and discipline to cost estimating and job costing in design-to-order capital equipment companies. Management reporting systems, policy and procedure audits, staff recruitment and development, benefit and incentive plans, IT infrastructure planning, and ISO registration initiatives round-out his expertise.

He has been involved in a variety of fields including diagnostic medical imaging, aerospace, defense, nuclear, automotive, high-technology welding and cutting, high-power laser, medical devices, and scientific instrumentation as well as in international markets in the EU, Middle East, and Asia.

He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, a BS in Physics from St. Louis University, and four United States Patents.
